Homework! Depending on your child’s age, homework expectations will vary.

As a teacher, one aspect of homework that is always included is reading.

Try your best to read with your child daily and remember to fill in the reading record.


Below are 4 tips to support you to help your child with their homework.

1- Check with your child’s class teacher their homework due date

Knowing the due date, will help you to factor this date into your weekly routine and plan.


2- Look at the school website for information about homework

Information about homework should be available online. If not ask the teacher.


3- If you’re not too sure about what to do, please do not hesitate to ask questions.

The homework your child receives, by their school may be different compared to when we were at school. Therefore, if you are unsure of how to complete and support your child with their homework, ask for help.


4- Allocate time at home to support your child with their homework

We are all busy with work, school, and everyday life. However, setting time aside to support your child with their homework, encourages bonding time. This also gives you the opportunity, to take your time and complete the work to best of your child's individual ability.
